“Airbag“ and “Black Box“ |
Similar to airbags for protection in automobiles, SPECTRA™ CoDe is a mechanical vibration-based monitoring system along 3 axes to detect Collision or Vibration Overload and thus minimize machine damage.
Less than 1 millisecond reaction time allows for fast machine response, reducing damage to machine, tools, fixtures, and parts.
Smart product based on advanced MEMS technology protects the machine for longer life and also improves operator safety. It allows for the creation of an entire Monitoring solution with a compact footprint.
Optimal protection for turning, grinding, and special machines as well as machining centers, transfer lines, gantries, robots, and material handling systems.
SPECTRA™ CoDe not only protects the machine, it records the history of processes and events of metal cutting machines and other industrial equipment, just like the black box is standard device in any airplane.
The text log records 1‘000 events with date, time, and max value (m/sec2) in a non-erasable sensor memory (FIFO). Sensor measures all events with equal sensitivity in all 3 directions. SpectraTM CoDe also records the last 3 graphical events including preceding and following 4 seconds.
If the system is disconnected or manually modified, e.g. by removing the power or disabling the alarms, then even these events are stored in the Event Log.
SPECTRA™ CoDe Event Log informs machine tool builders and producers about collisions or vibration overload, indicating cause and effect relationships.
3 individual limits generate 3 outputs to allow different machine reactions (immediate stop, feed hold, slower feed, count parts / production time). 1 input permits disarming the system when manually changing parts
or using pneumatic fixtures or manual part clamps.
Through the Electronic Interface Unit IBU the monitoring system continuously tests for ”System OK“ and ”System Armed“ and feed back to the control unit when necessary.
Events cannot be cancelled or removed.
Visualization possible using Windows PC or PC-based controls
Spectra™ Pulse is a complete miniature monitoring system using micro-electronic-mechanical-systems, or MEMS technology. MEMS technology increases the affordability, functionality, and performance in a small and reliable package. Montronix utilizes accelerometer-based MEMS technology to provide a 3-dimensional monitoring solution that may be reprogrammed with various algorithms to provide solutions based on changing requirements.

| The SPECTRA™ Battery Net Box is designed for the wireless connection of a SPECTRA™ Pulse sensor and any PC. The wireless communication is a Peer-to-Peer link and will be defined via a configuration interface. A battery allows independent measurements and analysis possibilities up to 5 hours. The range of 30 to 100 meters (32.80 to 109.36 yd) in the industrial environments allows to work comfortable even on big machines, gantries, or other large systems. In a Microsoft™ Windows™ environment the SPECTRA™ Battery Net Box can be connected just as easy as any other wireless device. It is also possible to connect the M8 power supply connector to a regular DC 24 V distributor device for machine outputs. Thereby the SPECTRA™ Battery Net Box is usable also for long time monitoring and process optimisation tasks (in combination with a laptop), or the integrated logbook function of the sensor can be used. The Battery Net Box can be used also for the connection to other devices like e.g. to the SPECTRA™ process monitoring units or to a second SPECTRA™ Pulse (signals only, no LED display). For that a suitable external adapter is necessary. |
