The PS100 power sensor is used to measure spindle or axis drive power consumption. It provides a true measurement of power that includes voltage, current, and phase. Power measurement is primarily used for rotating applications, and can be used to detect worn, missing, and some broken tools. The PS100 sensor is available in AC and DC versions, and is easily installed without machine modifications. |
Power monitoring provides these benefits:
- True motor power measurement includes voltage, current, and phase
- Easily installed without machine modifications
- An indirect measurement of the process
- More accurate and sensitive than current measurement at low motor loads
- Primarily used for rotating tool applications
- Reliable detection of worn and missing tools; some success detecting broken tools
- Adjustable gain allows the sensor to work well in applications with both large and small diameter tools
